All You Need To Know About 5g Coronavirus Conspiracy Theory.
Just as we moved into the lockdown in major cities all over the world, a lot of persons have gradually adapted to life without the usual daily activities.
Therefore, the Internet has become a lot more important as several services drifted online.
Coincidentally, there have been some ambiguous speculations linking the development of 5G technology network and the spread of the coronavirus pandemic around the world.
We take a look at what 5G technology network is all about, its presence in the world and the scientific merits of such claims.
What is 5g?
5G is the fifth generation of wireless communications technologies supporting cellular data networks.
It is basically an upgraded version of the 4G technology and is aimed at improving connection not only between people but also between machines, objects and devices.
For example, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and so on.
Difference Between 4g and 5g
All over the world, 5G is widely believed to be smarter, faster and more efficient than 4G.
It provides mobile data speeds that exceed the fastest home broadband network currently available to users.
With speeds close to 100 gigabits per second, 5G is said to be 100 times faster than 4G.
Is 5g Dangerous to Human? Does it Cause Harmful Radiation?
There is no proven evidence that 5G or any other kind of radio waves are harmful to human.
Before the coronavirus outbreak, there were speculations regarding 5G effects on human’s health due to its higher frequencies and the type of radiation it emits.
Unlike electromagnetic radiation which causes cancer, 5G emits a form of radiation that does not penetrate and damage human cells.
Although, 5G frequencies are a bit higher than that of 4G and 3G, the WHO stated that:
“To date, and after much research performed, no adverse health effect has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies. Health-related conclusions are drawn from studies performed across the entire radio spectrum and provided that the overall exposure remains below international guidelines, no consequences for public health are anticipated.”
5g Coronavirus Conspiracy Theory
The first online posts publicizing the theory appeared in late January.
5G has been blamed for everything from cancer to infertility, long before the coronavirus outbreak even began.
The 5g Coronavirus Conspiracy Theory looks roughly like this: the invention of faster 5G internet is either causing or boosting the spread of the coronavirus.
Responding to this claim, telecommunication companies stated that there is no correlation between 5G Technology and COVID-19.
Also, the World Health Organisation (WHO) says:
“a large number of studies have been performed over the last two decades to assess whether mobile phones pose a potential health risk (and) to date, no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use.”
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that spread among animals and sometimes humans.
According to WHO, the Coronavirus disease circulates primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze.
Similarly, it also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.
Conclusively, there is currently no scientific research linking the coronavirus and telecommunication technologies such as 5G.
In essence, if you notice any coronavirus symptom after coming in contact with any telecom device.
It might be as a result of being in contact with an infected person, and not the telecom device itself.
