How To Clean Your Humidifier

Both cool mist and warm steam humidifiers are cleaned the same way, but some of the parts may differ. Some models may also have parts that are water-resistant.

  • Unplug and empty the humidifier tank, and disassemble it completely.
  • Then, pour one to two cups of undiluted white vinegar into the water tank to swosh it completely.
  • Place the vinegar-filled tank on the base and allow the vinegar to drain into the reservoir to reduce mineral build-up.
  • Pour away the vinegar from the tank and base and use a small soft brush to scrub crevices and remove any stuck-on substance deposits.
  • For the tank cap, wipe with a clean cloth or sponge immersed in full-strength white vinegar.
  • Rinse all the parts properly and air dry, then reassemble.

Note: Don’t try to wash the filter as it can damage it and potentially remove an antimicrobial coating. It’s better to replace the filter with a new one.
