The good news is that you can easily Clear Google Map History from your phone or other mobile devices.

Sometimes when we travel to places that we’ll never go back to, and there is no reason to have it saved in the app’s history.

Surprisingly, you can easily Clear Google Map History and locations from Google Maps on your phone. You can even turn off history at the same time.

How to Clear Google Map History on Your Android Device

  • These guidelines apply to both Android phones and tablets:
  • Lunch the Google Maps app and log in to your Google account.
  • Swipe out from the left edge to show the Google Maps menu.
  • Scroll down to the bottom and tap Settings.
  • Tap Maps history. You will be given two options here: You can either choose to delete automatically or scroll down to delete manually.
  • To delete automatically, tap Choose to delete automatically and select the number of months to delete.
  • Tap Next.
  • Then, tap Confirm or Got It.
  • To delete locations manually from your search history, scroll down to find the particular location you want to delete.
  • Tap the three vertical dots menu.
  • Tap Delete.

How to Delete Google Map History From Your iOS Device

  • This guide applies to both iPhones and iPads:
  • Lunch the Google Maps app and log in to your Google account.
  • Tap the three horizontal Menu button.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Maps History.
  • To view your entire Maps history, type Maps in the search box and tap Done. Then Filter it by date and enter a date range.
  • Tap the three vertical menus.
  • Tap Delete Results to get remove of all of your history. Tape Delete again to confirm your decision.
  • To manually delete items from your search history, scroll to the item and tap the three vertical menus.
  • Then tap Delete next to each entry you want to be deleted.

How to Pause Google Map Location History

You can also pause Google Maps’ location history completely if you would prefer to stop the google map from recording anything rather than automatically deleting later.

  • Open Google Maps, swipe in out the top-left edge and tap Your Timeline.
  • Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner, and then tap Settings and privacy.
  • Scroll down to the button and tap on Location History is on.
  • Tap on the toggle button to turn off the location.

It’s important to note that pausing location history doesn’t stop your phone (and Google) knowing where your phone is.

Also, note that turning off location history doesn’t turn off location services. It simply means that Google Maps won’t save your location history.
