But you’ll want to have some standard home improvement tools on hand such as a screwdriver, pliers, wrench, measuring tape, power drill, and a flashlight.

What you need;
- An instruction manual
- Parts supplied with a dishwasher
- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A Socket wrench
- An adjustable wrench
- A level
- A measuring tape
- A bucket
- A pair of safety glasses
- A pair of gloves
- Supportive back pad or neck pillow
Turn off the water and electricity in your kitchen.
You don’t want to risk water leak or shock during the process because you will be removing and adding a new appliance that needs both to work.
Find the home’s breaker box and turn off the electricity to the kitchen. Make sure your shutoff valve is off to turn off your water supply.
Evaluate your plumbing situation.
A dishwasher installation must adhere to local codes and ordinances. You need to figure out how your dishwasher will drain.
You can directly drain to the water supply pipe under your sink.
Evaluate your electrical situation.
Most recent dishwashers must connect to a grounded branch circuit, which means they will need to be permanently grounded or come with a grounding power cord.
You need to know which connection your dishwasher has and whether your current setup is properly wired for your state’s ordinances.
Some dishwashers are direct wires into the wall instead of plugged into an outlet.
Remove your existing dishwasher.
You can start by finding and removing your dishwasher’s toe tick. A toe tick is a metal plate at the base of your dishwasher.
It can be easily removed with a screwdriver and will allow you to see underneath your dishwasher.
You will want to unscrew the leveling legs found in each of the four corners of the dishwasher base once the toe tick is out.
Space will be created between your dishwasher and the counter by unscrewing the leveling legs which allow you to slide the dishwasher out once you have created enough.
Clean the area of the dishwasher thoroughly
Clean out the spot where your dishwasher once lived because, over the years, it must have accumulated food waste, dust, or debris.
Attach the drain line
Verify that all the connections are in the dishwasher then take the cap off the drain live connection at the dishwasher.
Thread the drain line
With the use of pliers, crimp the clamp around the hose to secure then thread the drain line into the hole under the sink.
Put the dishwasher under the countertop
Slide the new dishwasher under the countertop and level the countertop by adjusting the heights of the legs with a wrench and secure the dishwasher to the countertop with screws.
Re-Attach the wires
Screw-on wire nuts and wrap with electrical tape and verify the power is still off at the breaker.
Make sure you place the copper ground wire under the green-round screw and tighten it down.
Attach the supply line and the dishwasher
Attach the dishwasher supply line to the dishwasher and tighten with a wrench
Turn on the water and power
You have to turn on the water under the sink and attach the drain line to the plumbing system and tighten the clamp around the hose. Make sure you turn the power on at the breaker.
