Instructions for Submitting an Application to Participate in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program 2023-2024

Before looking for a full-time position with a federal agency, recent college graduates and young professionals in the fields of public administration and social service leadership are encouraged to participate in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, which is a paid training program that lasts for 18 months and helps participants build their skills, expand their professional networks, and establish their credibility. The program provides stipends that can be used to defray the costs of travel, housing, books, computers, and any other personal expenses that may arise. During their time in the fellowship program, fellows receive on-the-job training from seasoned professionals in their chosen field of study who also act as mentors for the duration of the fellowship. They not only gain new skills as a result of this expertise, but they also build confidence among themselves and their fellow trainees regarding their potential to move beyond the environment of the agency and into a more independent career path with organizations outside the agency.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowships program promotes social and civic engagement on the part of both the individual and the organization in order to foster the development of healthy communities. The fellowship program offers financial assistance to graduating seniors from undergraduate institutions, students pursuing master's degrees, and candidates for the doctoral degree who are interested in a career in public service. Throughout the course of the year, numerous organizations offer opportunities for research or practical experience in the field that can be funded by the fellowships. The fellowships will cover up to one-third of the tuition costs at any higher education institution in the United States that holds an appropriate accreditation.

It is required that you have received your high school diploma within the past two years. You are required to be a citizen of the United States or a permanent legal resident in order to participate. On a scale from 0.0 to 4.0, your grade point average must be at least 3.0. You must not have any criminal convictions that could put your application in jeopardy in any way, either directly or indirectly. There must not be any holdings on your part that could in any way put your eligibility as an applicant in jeopardy. During your time at college, you might not have already been awarded any other prestigious fellowships or grants. There is a possibility that you do not presently call one of the states home in which the Hubert H Reservoir is situated.
